High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

What is high potential and gifted education?

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom
Our teachers differentiate learning to challenge and engage every student. Class programs are designed to extend thinking, encourage creativity, and support high potential learners through personalised tasks, inquiry-based learning, and enrichment activities across all key learning areas.
Across our school
We offer a range of programs and opportunities for students to develop their talents and interests beyond the classroom. These include leadership programs, enrichment groups, extension in literacy and numeracy, performing arts, sporting opportunities, and participation in academic competitions. Students are encouraged to take on challenges, work collaboratively, and build confidence in their abilities.
Across NSW
Our students are supported to access state-wide programs and initiatives for high potential and gifted learners, such as the Opportunity Class placement process, the NSW Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA), Public Speaking and Debating competitions, Creative Arts programs, and other Department of Education enrichment opportunities.
